Golden Band Resources - La Ronge Gold Project development update

    GBN: TSX Venture Exchange

    SASKATOON, June 1 /CNW/ - Golden Band Resources Inc. (GBN: TSXV) is
pleased to provide an update on the following development-related activities,
all of which are directed to achieving gold production on the Company's La
Ronge Gold Project in 2009.

    Construction Permitting
    As previously announced, the Company has received Ministerial Approval for
the La Ronge Gold Project from Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment (see news
release of May 27th, 2009). The Company has subsequently applied for a number
of provincial approvals pertaining to the construction of the mining and
milling facilities required for the project, including:

    -   Surface lease agreement for the entire project;

    - Forest Product Permit for land clearing at all sites; and

    - Approval to Construct Pollutant Control Facilities for surface water
        ponds at the Bingo and Komis mine sites.

    Jolu Mill Refurbishment
    The Company is pleased to report that long-lead preparatory work for the
Jolu mill refurbishment is well underway using funds raised through a private
placement (see news releases dated April 27 and May 13, 2009). To date, the
following work has been committed and is in progress:

    -   Completion of 25% of brush clearing for the grid power line;

    - Power supply agreement signed with SaskPower, and engineering of the
        overhead power line to site from the Lindsay Lake sub-station;

    -   Supply agreement for an Inline Leach Reactor;

    -   Rebuilding of the mill's primary jaw crusher;

    -   Installation of propane tank, pumps, and vaporizer;

    - Final engineering and design of the on-site assay lab; and

    - Final engineering and design of the Jolu Above Ground Tailings
        Management Facility.

    Construction Schedule
    The Company has commenced negotiations with Kitsaki/Procon Joint Venture
for the supplying of services under the General Services Agreement signed in
September 2007. These include the provision of underground development and
production mining at Bingo, open pit development and production mining at
Komis and EP, mill refurbishment and surface construction at the Jolu mill
site, and site services including road maintenance, ore transport, and
accommodation service.
    Once the construction permits have been received, the schedule for
construction will be dependent on the Company successfully financing the
pre-production capital requirements for the project. As stated in the
previously announced Pre-Feasibility Study (see news release of January 20,
2009), the Company requires $26 million to bring the project to production.

    About Golden Band

    Golden Band Resources, already Saskatchewan's leading gold explorer, is
now poised to also become a gold producer. Golden Band is a well-financed,
Saskatchewan-based, publicly listed company (GBN: TSXV) whose focus is the
long-term, systematic exploration and development of its 100%-owned La Ronge
Gold Belt properties. Since 1994, Golden Band has assembled through staking
and strategic acquisition a land package of more than 750 km(2), including 12
known gold deposits, five former producing mines, and a licensed gold mill.
Golden Band's key value drivers are the methodical and systematic targeting of
primary to advanced-stage exploration while progressing along a parallel path
to becoming a sustainable gold producer. The Company is aggressively pursuing
its near-term goal of commercial production of its Bingo, Komis, and EP
deposits with processing at the 100%-owned Jolu mill. The Company's objective,
supported by a positive Pre-Feasibility Study completed in January 2009, is
the annual production of at least 75,000 ounces of gold over a ten-year
project life. Other longer-term objectives include the continuation of its
highly successful exploration and acquisition strategy.
