Gold Port Resources Ltd. - Drilling begins at Akaiwong Project

    VANCOUVER, April 19 /CNW/ - The Company is pleased to announce the
resumption of drilling at the Akaiwong Project located in Cuyuni Mining
District 4, Guyana, South America. The Akaiwong Project is 100% owned by the
Company and located 20 kilometers southeast of the significant gold discovery
at Aurora by Guyana Goldfields (GUY.TSX) and contiguous to an extensive land
package currently under evaluation by Aranka Gold Inc. (ARK.TSX-V).
    The Company owned Ingetrol MD Explorer drill rig was restarted at
Hole AK06-33B. Hole AK06-33B was completed to a depth of 28 meters prior to
shut down in December. The rig has been significantly modified and is
utilizing state of the art FORDIA "Shark" diamond drill bits.
    Production of drilled meters per hour has been significantly improved
with the technical changes. Hole AK06-33B has been completed to a current
depth of 110 meters with a target depth of 150 meters. Core production is
averaging 2 meters per hour of drilling, with the crew working a 20 hour day
split between two 10 hour shifts. The rig will be relocated to begin hole
AK07-34 upon completion of the current hole. Core is being logged and split on
site for transportation to Georgetown. Sample preparation will be completed by
ACME Laboratories in Georgetown, Guyana. With final assay completed by ACME
Laboratories in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. The contents of this press release
