Canada's Largest Energy Event in 2009 hailed a success
CALGARY, June 11 /CNW/ - dmg world media ("dmg"), event organizers, today
announced 20,926 registered attendees at GO-EXPO: Gas and Oil Exposition, held
at Stampede Park June 9 - 11, 2009 in Calgary. Spotlight features included the
Global Petroleum Conference and an impressive roster of international
speakers; keynote presentations on sustainable energy and the future of the
global energy market; specialty pavilions; world-class seminars and more.
Over 700 exhibiting companies showcased the latest innovations in
technologies, products and services, covering over 100,000 net square feet.
Foreign exhibiting companies reached an all-time high at GO-EXPO, with
companies from China, France, Germany, Korea, Kuwait, Sweden and USA
representing their interests to the Canadian market. Specialty pavilions
included a Health & Safety Pavilion to address critical safety practices in
light of recent increasing workplace fatalities; and the Environmental
Technologies & Innovations Pavilion where environmental management met
cutting-edge innovation of alternative energy technologies to supplement the
oil and gas industry. The outdoor area featured displays of service rigs and
field equipment, and the largest exhibitor Caterpillar, in partnership with
its distributor, Finning, covered more than 6,000 net square feet.
GO-EXPO kicked off on Tuesday, June 9, with the Global Petroleum
Conference - a two-and-a-half day conference that showcased a stellar
international plenary session featuring top executives from Kuwait, Mexico,
USA and Canada, followed by more than 60 technical presentations.
Distinguished keynote speakers included in the Global Petroleum
Conference were Honourable Mel Knight, Minister of Energy - Government of
Alberta; Carlos Morales Gil, President - Pemex Exploration and Production;
Khaled Al-Khamees, Deputy Managing Director - Kuwait Oil Company; David
Collyer, President - Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP); Dr.
Soheil Asgarpour, President - Petroleum Technology Alliance Canada (PTAC). A
special presentation by His Excellency Qubad Talabani, Kurdistan Regional
Government (KRG) Representative to the United States of America rounded out
"GO-EXPO offered an ideal platform for business-to-business transactions,
networking, innovative technologies, and new ideas activities for the upstream
