GO and ATU reach tentative agreement

    TORONTO, Dec. 6, 2007 /CNW/ - GO Transit and Amalgamated Transit Union
Local 1587, which represents most of GO's employees, reached a tentative
agreement today in negotiations for a new collective agreement.
    The tentative agreement must still be ratified by GO Transit's Board of
Directors and in a membership vote by ATU Local 1587. The ratification process
is expected to conclude within the next four weeks. The tentative agreement's
details are not being released at this time.
    ATU Local 1587 represents about 1,170 of GO's 1,460 employees. Unionized
staff include GO's bus drivers, station attendants, transit enforcement
officers, maintenance personnel, and office, professional and technical staff.
