GL&V Recently Awarded Large Contracts Totalling More than $26 Million in the Water Treatment Market Worldwide

MONTREAL, March 28 /CNW Telbec/ - (Note: All amounts are expressed in
Canadian dollars unless otherwise indicated.) Management of GROUPE LAPERRIERE
& VERREAULT INC. ("GL&V" or "the Company"; ticker symbols GLV.A, GLV.B/TSX) is
pleased to announce that within the last few weeks, its Water Treatment Group
was awarded several large-scale contracts worth over $26 million in the global
water treatment industry.
The largest contract, totalling over $5 million, is for the installation
of a wastewater treatment system for an important municipality in Canada, to
be completed by June 2009. The Water Treatment Group was also awarded several
large orders totalling approximately $9 million in the United States, close to
$6 million in Asia and around $6 million in the United Kingdom and Australia.
Many of the orders in the United States are for the submerged membrane
technology (MBR) for municipal wastewater treatment marketed by the Enviroquip
division. These contracts are scheduled for delivery in 2007 and 2008. "Thanks
to the acquisition of Enviroquip in June 2006, GL&V is progressively building
a significant business base in this market segment in the U.S," pointed out
Richard Verreault, President and Chief Operating Officer of GL&V. The Water
Treatment Group also received two major orders in the Asian municipal market:
one in Singapore and the other in Thailand. The latter, worth close to
$5 million, is for an advanced wastewater treatment system including Eimco(R)
primary and secondary clarifiers, a FlooBed(R) bioreactor and a FlooDaf(R)
microflotation system based on the technologies acquired from Metso in
January 2006, as well as ancillary equipment. This contract is scheduled for
delivery by March 2008. Finally, the Copa group companies, acquired by GL&V in
October 2006, also contributed to grow the Water Treatment Group's order
backlog by landing significant contracts in England, Ireland and Australia,
which will be finalized in 2007.
"We are pleased with these new contracts that attest to our Water
Treatment Group's broadened positioning in terms of both technologies and
international presence. After closing five acquisitions within 18 months, this
group is in the process of consolidating and optimizing its operational base,
product portfolio and global network in order to accelerate its growth and
increase its profitability in the coming quarters," added Richard Verreault.
