TORONTO, Sept. 10 /CNW/ - The latest phase in Global Television's
critically-acclaimed 'Media Innovation 2007' Fall Launch campaign debuted
today, with an unexpected, edible twist.
In another Canadian media exclusive, inspired by the 15th edition of
reality-TV giant 'SURVIVOR', the network is using the iconic fortune cookie to
support the series' September 20th premiere.
Right now, one million custom-baked fortune cookies - prepared in a
secret location, and containing special SURVIVOR: CHINA-branded messaging -
will be distributed with each meal at participating Manchu WOK Restaurants
nationwide. For four consecutive weeks beginning today, fans across Canada can
take a chance at travel and adventure, in "THE GREAT FORTUNE COOKIE QUEST",
looking for the three "golden tickets", bearing the grand prize of a trip for
two to China courtesy of targetvacations.ca.
"We're very excited about the buzz that this Survivor: China-driven
initiative is sure to create," said Walter Levitt, Senior Vice President of
Marketing for CanWest MediaWorks. "By leading with this fun and creative
concept, we've demonstrated that Global continues to reinvent the marketing of
primetime - with energy, enthusiasm and a commitment to engaging our audience
in new ways."
SURVIVOR fans can also participate by spotting a Great Fortune Cookie
Quest Street Team in select neighbourhoods in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary,
Winnipeg and Edmonton - with more street team locations being confirmed in the
days to come. For information and complete contest details, visit:

About Manchu WOK
Manchu WOK is North America's largest Chinese Food Franchise. It was
started in Peterborough, Ontario in 1980 and currently serves over 27 million
meals a year at over 200 locations in North America. The expanding and
evolving menu includes Cantonese, Szechwan, Hunan and Mandarin cuisine.
Legend of The Cookie: San Francisco and Los Angeles both lay claim to the
origin of the fortune cookie. Makoto Hagiwara of Golden Gate Park's Japanese
Tea Garden in San Francisco is said to have invented the cookie in 1909, while
David Jung, founder of the Hong Kong Noodle Company in Los Angeles, is said to
have invented them in 1918. San Francisco's Court of Historical Review ruled
in 1983 in favour of San Francisco. (Source: Wikipedia)
