Gift Card Reloading on the Rise - Givex Releases 2007 Gift Card Survey Results

    TORONTO, Nov. 27 /CNW/ - As the holiday season approaches, Givex
announces the release of its annual National Gift Card Survey results. SES
Research conducted the study on behalf of Givex.
    Givex's research confirms the continuing growth of the gift card
reloading trend. When respondents were asked what factor would make them
reload their gift card, 38% named discount as the main reason for reloading
their cards
    "Gift cards continue to be the favoured choice with Canadian gift givers
and recipients alike," says Amanda French, Vice President of Sales, Givex;
"The ability to re-load a card continues to be a feature many customers want
from their favorite merchants. We are pleased to help our merchants provide
card reloading service to their customer base with tools such as the Givex
Customer WebSuite for online reloading capability and real time discount
    The SES survey shows that more than half of Canadians (55%) spend more
than the value of their gift card.

    Other key findings are:

    -   Eight in ten Canadians (76%) consider themselves someone who either
        receives or gives gift cards. This represents an increase of 7%
        compared to 2006.
    -   71% of those polled cite convenience and flexibility as the number
        one advantage of giving or receiving a gift card.
    -   When receiving gift cards 52% of Canadians say they like the
        flexibility of choosing what they want.
    -   Women remain the leaders in gift card use with 81% indicating they
        have used a gift card.
    -   Gift cards continue to be a popular choice across all age groups.
    -   Only 10% of Canadians say that they felt gift cards were too

Research between November 6th and November 8, 2007. Aggregate results of the
survey are accurate +/-3.1%, 19 times out of 20.
