GCT Global Container Terminals announces new President and Chief Executive Officer

    TORONTO, Sept. 29 /CNW/ - Paul M. Tellier, P.C., C.C., Q.C., Chairman of
the Board of GCT Global Container Terminals Inc., an Ontario Teachers' Pension
Plan private investment company, today announced the appointment of Michael E.
Moore as President and Chief Executive Officer, effective November 1, 2008.
    Mr. Michael Moore is currently Senior Vice President, Commercial for DP
World in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this role since 2005, he is
responsible for the entire commercial function including more than 45 global
locations in 25 countries, and eight regions. He is accountable for sales,
marketing, U.S. governmental relations, sales training and development in the
United States, Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
    Prior to joining DP World, Mr. Moore held various positions within Maersk
Sealand, one of the world's leading shipping companies, from 1984 to 2005,
with the most senior being Vice President, Global Sales, Europe, Africa,
Copenhagen, Denmark, and London, United Kingdom. He was responsible for global
sales in the Europe and Africa regions and was accountable for strategic
planning, revenue development, sales training, and staffing and field
    "Michael has an extensive international background within the maritime
industry including ocean freight movement, warehousing and distribution. He
has both commercial and general management experience, having led the Asia,
Middle East, and Europe Service business for Sealand for several years in
addition to his previously mentioned current role as Senior Vice President,
Commercial for DP World," said Paul Tellier, Chairman of the Board.

    GCT Global Container Terminals is a private company of the Ontario
Teachers' Pension Plan. It was created to hold and direct the pension fund's
investments in marine container terminals. These investments currently
comprise four marine container terminals in North America - two terminals in
the Port of Vancouver, British Columbia, one terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey
and one terminal on Staten Island, New York.
