TORONTO, May 27 /CNW/ - Gary McMahon of Richmond Hill will receive a Fire
Safety Award from the Fire Marshal's Public Fire Safety Council at a ceremony
on June 3, 2009 in Toronto. The annual Fire Safety Awards recognize
outstanding contributions to fire protection and prevention in Ontario.
In his capacity as an Associate Producer with Rogers TV and current
member of Rogers Health and Safety committee, McMahon has provided his
personal time, staff, production resources and airtime to the production of an
ongoing series of fire prevention Public Service Announcements (PSAs). Having
worked with the Richmond Hill Fire Department to create education messages,
these PSAs air regularly across York Region.
"The partnership with Gary McMahon has increase the awareness level of
residents about fire safety risks in the community," said Ontario Fire Marshal
Pat Burke. "With his support, the Richmond Hill Fire Department has been able
to communicate important information to an audience that they may not
otherwise have been able to reach."
Fire departments throughout the province nominated individuals and
organizations for this year's awards; 20 recipients were selected. The
Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services Rick Bartolucci and
Fire Marshal Burke will present the awards at a luncheon ceremony at the
Sutton Place Hotel in Toronto.
