Fun Passes make family outings more affordable this summer

1.4 Million Children Get In Free At Provincial Attractions Starting
    July 1

TORONTO, June 21 /CNW/ - Ontario's Fun Pass is back by popular demand,
just in time for parents looking for affordable ways to keep their kids busy
this summer, MPP David Zimmer announced today. Each fun pass includes one free
children's admission to 15 participating provincial attractions - and an
Ontario Provincial Parks daily vehicle permit discount.
"The Fun Pass gives families 16 different reasons to discover an Ontario
that is exciting, educational, interesting and inspiring," said Zimmer. "The
pass also helps boost tourism in our area by bringing in new visitors who want
to enjoy a new experience."
"Ontario Place takes pride in the fact that it is the premier leisure
destination in the GTA for young families," said Ontario Place General Manager
Glenn Dobbin. "The Fun Pass is a great way for families to partake in all of
the great activities that Ontario Place has to offer at a great price."
The Fun Pass has been distributed to 1.4 million elementary school
students across the province. It allows one free admission for a child 14 and
younger when accompanied by a paying adult. At Ontario Place, children will
receive one free Play All Day Pass with the purchase of an adult Play All Day
Pass. Fun Passes will be accepted at all provincial attractions from July 1
until September 3.
The pass, launched by the McGuinty government in 2005 as a pilot program,
has expanded to include almost all school boards and private schools
throughout Ontario.
"The Fun Pass is a big hit for families looking for inexpensive ways to
keep busy and enjoy summer in Ontario," said Culture Minister Caroline Di
Cocco. "With this pass, kids can learn about our history and culture and have
fun at the same time."
"Keeping kids active during the summer can be challenging," said Tourism
Minister Jim Bradley. "That is why the McGuinty Government is helping parents
by making Ontario's wide range of attractions more affordable for families."
