    Samsung Searches For Mobile Phone Samaritans to Join Walker in San
    Francisco, Call for Entries Closes September 12

    RICHARDSON, Texas and RIDGEFIELD PARK, N.J., Sept. 7 /CNW/ -- Samsung,
Presenting Partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay, announced today
that football great and Olympic Bobsledder Herschel Walker will carry the
Olympic Torch during the Olympic Torch Relay next April in San Francisco. In
addition, Samsung continues the search for Mobile Phone Samaritans to reward
them with an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to carry the Olympic Torch in the
same relay as Walker.
    "During my career, I've been fortunate to receive help from friends,
family and even strangers along the way," said Heisman Trophy winner Walker.
"Samsung is looking to honor those who have helped others by becoming a part
of the Olympic spirit and carrying the torch with me during the Olympic Torch
    Samsung is hosting the Mobile Phone Samaritan program as a Presenting
Partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Torch Relay. This is an opportunity for
any person who has exercised quick thinking during an emergency situation by
using a mobile phone to call for help to be rewarded for their heroics. The
deadline for entries is Sept. 12, 2007.

Phone Samaritans that have helped others through the use of their mobile
phones to carry the prestigious Olympic torch."
    To nominate yourself or someone you know as a "Mobile Phone Samaritan,"
visit between now and Sept. 12, 2007, and
tell us your story in 100 words or less. Entries should describe how a mobile
phone was used in an emergency situation to help someone else. Entries should
exemplify the immediacy and mobility benefits of mobile phone technology in an
emergency situation, as well as a gesture of kindness and compassion toward
another person.
    A panel of judges will select five winning entries awarding them with an
opportunity to serve as Olympic Torchbearers in San Francisco, the only North
American stop for the Olympic Torch. Complete rules and eligibility

    Samsung Electronics has been a Worldwide Olympic Partner in the wireless
communications category since 1997 and first sponsored the Olympic Torch Relay
in 2004 prior to the Summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. For the 2008
Olympic Torch Relay, Samsung will select up to 1,500 torchbearers globally.
