First of its kind Canadian Product Recall Study

    TORONTO, Oct. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The first Canadian research study on
product recalls will be released Thursday, October 18th by the National
Quality Institute in partnership with the Haskayne School of Business,
University of Calgary.
    These preliminary findings of the study, sponsored by the National
Quality Institute, are being released in advance of the 2007 Performance
Excellence Summit and Canada Awards for Excellence in Toronto, Wednesday,
October 24th at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
    Allan Ebedes, President and CEO of the National Quality Institute, and
Debi Andrus, assistant professor at the Haskayne School of Business and the
principal researcher for the study, will be available to schedule interviews
during the next few days including Friday and on the weekend.

    The National Quality Institute is a not-for-profit, independent
organization whose goal is to help Canadian private and public sector
organizations to implement programs in excellence and a healthy workplace.
Today, Canadian organizations and businesses increasingly recognize that a
healthy workplace helps to attract and retain staff. The National Quality
Institute works with organizations to manage self-assessment activities,
review business processes and develop improvement programs.

    The Canada Awards for Excellence is an annual awards program for which
the National Quality Institute is the custodian to recognize business
excellence in quality, customer service, and a healthy workplace. Since 1984,
the awards have been presented to private and public sector organizations of
all sizes that are world class. In 2004, the Small Business and Education
awards categories were added, and in 2006 the Order of Excellence was
