First nominating meetings for Federal Liberals in Québec

    MONTREAL, May 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Denise Verreault and Marc-André
Blanchard, co-presidents of the pre-election campaign of the Québec wing of
the Liberal Party of Canada, are pleased to announce that the first nominating
meetings to choose an official candidate for each of the following ridings
will take place on the following dates:

    - Brossard-La Prairie, June 14
    - Rivière-des-Mille-Iles, June 15
    - Hull-Aylmer, June 18
    - Beauce, June 20
    - Brome-Missisquoi, June 22

    The dates were chosen at a meeting of the electoral commission on May 12.
    The appointment of Ms. Verreault and Mr. Blanchard as co-presidents was
confirmed by the Honourable Denis Coderre at the announcement of the
pre-electoral structure at the General Council on March 21 and 22.
    "There is palpable enthusiasm in the field," said Mr. Coderre. "And these
are only the first in a wave of meetings that will be held in each of the 75
ridings over the next few months." He added that his teams are highly
motivated in light of the interest shown by many high-quality people, all
wishing to run for the Liberal Party of Canada in the next election.
