First-ever survey about getting a professional licence

    Ontario's Fairness Commissioner seeks applicants' experiences

    TORONTO, May 7 /CNW/ -


    The Office of the Fairness Commissioner
( is launching a survey of people who
have applied to regulated professions in Ontario. It is gathering first-hand
information-applicants' experiences-about getting a license as a professional.
    The office makes sure there is a level playing field for everyone who
applies to a profession. It has done research about regulatory bodies and
assessment agencies. Now it is seeking the views of applicants themselves.
    This is the first time a study of this type has been done in Canada.


    "The study will provide solid research about a topic where existing
information is often anecdotal," said Hon. Jean Augustine, PC, Fairness
Commissioner (
"Whether you are applying for a licence or already have it, I would like to
hear from you."
    "The Ontario College of Pharmacists is committed to fair and transparent
registration processes for our applicants, and this survey could help to
inform the registration processes for pharmacy and other professions," said
Deanna Williams, Registrar of the Ontario College of Pharmacists

    -   All answers are confidential.
    -   Anyone who applied in 2000 or later may take part in the survey.
    -   The survey is for both international and Canadian applicants.
    -   The Ontario College of Pharmacists licenses pharmacists from around
        the world and is one of many regulated professions
