Fidelity Private Investment Program brings world-class institutional money management expertise to high net-worth Canadians

TORONTO, Jan. 8 /CNW/ - Fidelity Investments Canada ULC today introduced
the Fidelity Private Investment Program, a new investment management solution
designed specifically for the high net-worth investor. This exclusive new
program includes a suite of nine Fidelity Private Investment Pools covering a
wide array of asset classes.
"As their level of income and assets rises, high net-worth investors are
looking for investment managers that can provide unique investment
opportunities, tax-advantaged solutions, low costs and most importantly,
consistent returns and performance over the long term," said Darren Farkas,
Vice President, Product Solutions. "Managing risk and preserving capital for
future generations are also top concerns. Our new Private Investment Program
combines the key features that provide high net-worth Canadians a new way to
manage their assets now and for future generations."
Despite challenging markets, high net-worth investors continue to be a
rapidly growing segment of the Canadian population, currently controlling an
estimated 76% of Canada's financial wealth. By 2016, their share of the wealth
in Canada is projected to increase to 84% or $4.5 trillion.(1)
"For over 60 years, Fidelity has been a trusted steward of client assets,
managing investments for individuals, families and institutions and we take
this responsibility very seriously," said Farkas. "Since our founding in 1946,
we have maintained a clear and consistent investment philosophy centered on
fundamental, bottom-up research and security selection."
Fidelity's new Private Investment Program brings together Fidelity's
extensive experience in managing assets for both individual investors as well
as institutional clients. The investment pools will be managed by portfolio
managers from Fidelity Investments and Pyramis Global Advisors, Fidelity's
dedicated institutional investment management subsidiary.
"Similar to Fidelity's institutional clients, high net-worth Canadians
expect their money managers to manage through market volatility and deliver
consistent long-term performance," said Farkas. "Fundamental, bottom-up equity
research continues to be the cornerstone of Fidelity's research process and
Fidelity's new Private Investment Program is managed with the same research,
strategies and techniques that deliver stability and performance to Fidelity's
institutional clients."
The Private Investment Program offers exclusive features and benefits
that meet the needs of high net-worth Canadians including:

    Custom Portfolio Service

The Custom Portfolio Service allows investors to create their own
personalized investment portfolio or select from five Fidelity model
portfolios. Working with their financial advisor, investors can choose a
rebalancing option, either fixed (maintains a strategic mix) or rolldown
(gradually shifts asset mix over time). They can also choose a rebalancing
schedule that fits their goals and objectives.

    Enhanced Reporting

Investors in the program will receive detailed account statements and
access to an exclusive Fidelity Private Investment Program website with market
and portfolio commentary.

    Tax-efficient Investing and Cash Flow

Most Pools will be available in Fidelity Capital Structure Corporation
(FCSC), providing investors with non-registered accounts the ability to switch
between pools while deferring tax. For cash flow, most pools are also
available with Fidelity T-SWPTM, Fidelity's tax-efficient withdrawal program.

    Preferred Pricing and Account Linking

Investors in the program will also benefit from preferred pricing where
management fees decline as account balances in the pools increase. Account
linking will also allow investors in the program to combine multiple account
balances in order to get the lowest possible fees.

The Pools in the Program include:

    - Fidelity Canadian Equity Private Pool
    - Fidelity Concentrated Canadian Equity Private Pool
    - Fidelity U.S. Equity Private Pool
    - Fidelity International Equity Private Pool
    - Fidelity Global Equity Private Pool
    - Fidelity Balanced Income Private Pool
    - Fidelity Balanced Private Pool
