Federal Budget - Toronto Community Housing available to comment

TORONTO, Jan. 27 /CNW/ - Derek Ballantyne, CEO of Toronto Community
Housing, Canada's largest social housing provider, will be available today to
comment on the Federal Budget.
Toronto Community Housing has called for new federal investments in
social housing to improve the state of repair, shorten waiting lists, create
jobs and improve the environment through energy retrofits. The organization
recently completed a 10-year, $1-billion capital investment strategy and has
many "shovel ready" projects that can provide fast, effective stimulus to the
Canadian economy.
Toronto Community Housing is Canada's largest social housing provider and
home to more than 164,000 tenants with low and moderate incomes - about six
per cent of the City of Toronto's population. Toronto Community Housing
employs 1,400 staff in a broad range of jobs who deliver Toronto Community
Housing's mandate to provide quality housing and build great neighbourhoods.
Toronto Community Housing is one of Canada's top 100 employers.
