Extensive renovations complete at Mercedes-Benz flagship downtown Toronto facility

    TORONTO, Oct. 30 /CNW/ - The renovation and expansion of the flagship
Mercedes-Benz Downtown store on Dundas Street East in Toronto is complete. The
landmark dealership is now the largest in the Mercedes-Benz Canada network and
features a beautiful, contemporary new car showroom with a bright open sales
concept design split over 3 levels. In addition, there is a separate AMG,
Maybach and SLR area, onsite smart Centre, and an expansive indoor pre-owned
showroom on the lower level that is also the largest in the Mercedes-Benz
dealership network.
    The new facility also boasts an expanded service reception area that will
continue to offer fast, friendly service with extended hours. A larger climate
controlled drive-through area will better serve the needs of valued customers,
and to maximize efficiency, service advisors are now situated at podium style
desks conveniently located next to the customer drive-through. This new set up
will ensure customers are protected from inclement weather, checked in quickly
and are on their way faster than ever. In addition, an extra 200 parking spots
will ensure ample parking for customers and offers increased space for
    Originally built in 1989, the Dundas retail location has been an industry
benchmark for many years. Initially, the dealership sat on a mere 0.6 acres at
the foot of the Bayview extension (easily accessible and very visible from the
Don Valley Parkway), but over time adjacent properties were acquired and the
new Mercedes-Benz Downtown complex now occupies approximately 1.8 acres of
    The layout and infrastructure of the facility follows the highly
efficient proprietary Mercedes-Benz "Autohaus" concept, which can be found in
many other Mercedes-Benz retail and privately-owned dealerships across the
country. The "Autohaus" concept promotes wide open areas and the use of glass
to maintain transparency everywhere in the dealership.
    The modern facility, which boasts a showroom three times larger than the
former one, features a new glass curtain wall that replaces the original
concrete wall panel system. The clean design and the huge amount of natural
light throughout the 108,000 square foot facility create a beautiful vehicle
display area, and a new halogen spot light system ensures that the true colour
of each vehicle is accurately reflected. To promote energy savings, lighting
throughout the service area was also replaced with highly efficient T5
fluorescent lighting.
    The extensive interior renovations, combined with the building's large
outdoor display, will ensure a more prominent corporate identity for
Mercedes-Benz in downtown Toronto.
