ExelTech announces $21 million hangar development project at Montreal's Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport

Company will create up to 100 additional jobs, capacity to increase
    by 30 %

MONTREAL, Aug. 27 /CNW Telbec/ - ExelTech Aerospace Inc. ("ExelTech
Aerospace", "ExelTech" or the "Company"), (TSX Venture: XLT), Canada's largest
publicly-listed commercial aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul
organization, today announced that it is launching the development of a new
$21 million heavy maintenance hangar facility at Montreal's Pierre Elliot
Trudeau International Airport. The new 130,000 square foot facility will
result in a 30% increase in capacity compared to the two smaller, older
hangars the company currently operates in Montreal.
To be constructed on a green field site adjacent to Boulevard de la
Côte-Vertu on the east side of the airport, the new complex will feature two
40,000 square foot heavy maintenance hangars connected by 30,000 square foot
of avionics, aircraft structures and component repair shops. The complex will
also include 20,000 square foot of office space.
The project has been designed to maximize aircraft structural maintenance
operations efficiencies. Each hangar features twice as many aircraft access
doors as the current facilities to increase flexibility. The complex is
adjacent to the airport's Runway 24R/6L, which will reduce aircraft taxi
times. The hangar includes two 70,000 square foot aircraft parking and testing
areas, and it is close to Highways 13, 20 and 40, providing easier access for
customers, shippers and suppliers.
When construction is completed, in spring 2008, the new complex will
become ExelTech's primary Bombardier CRJ regional jet and ATR 42/72 regional
turboprop maintenance facility, with the capacity to concurrently handle up to
ten heavy maintenance checks compared to the current capacity of seven
aircraft bays. The hangar's design means that ExelTech will offer its aircraft
maintenance engineers and technicians a more productive work environment and
the company will offer its customers reduced average maintenance turnaround
times.
ExelTech has selected Les Entreprises J.G. Guimond, Inc, a
well-established Montreal-based developer, to design and build the new
facility. Engineering consulting services will be provided by Genivar Inc., a
publicly-traded engineering firm with aerospace construction experience in
Montreal, Ottawa and other locations in Canada.
"The building of this hangar clearly demonstrates ExelTech's commitment
to Montreal and our unquestionable desire to continue as a key member of the
aerospace community in Quebec for years to come," stated Derek Nice, President
& CEO, ExelTech Aerospace. "ExelTech has grown and prospered on the strength
and quality of our employees here in Quebec, and we are very pleased that this
relationship will continue and, indeed, will grow."
The launch of the hangar development project will be the catalyst for a
major upgrade in the company's skills and capabilities and will result in the
addition of up to 100 jobs over the next two to three years, increasing total
Quebec-based employment to almost 600.
ExelTech's new Montreal facility will complement the company's operations
in Quebec City, where its modern 100,000 sq ft hangar facility is a centre of
excellence for the maintenance of Dash 8 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
The construction of the new heavy maintenance hangar facility will be
financed through a first mortgage financing from a financial institution,
governmental support and cash on hand.
