European Therapeutic Botox and Aesthetic Laser Consumable Usage Boosts Sales for Allergan, Syneron/Candela, Cynosure

VANCOUVER, April 19 /CNW/ - According to a new report by iData Research (, the leading global authority in medical device and pharmaceutical market research, the European cosmetic surgery, facial-aesthetics and medical laser market recovered in 2010 from the economic recession and is expected to reach over $1.3 billion by 2017. Growth will be driven by increased use of facial injectable products, such as botulinum toxin A and dermal fillers, as well as by the recovery of the aesthetic laser market.

The report states that the market for injectable facial products continued to grow through the recession, and has proven to be extremely popular as a non-surgical alternative to cosmetic surgery. Additional competitors to Botox® have begun infiltrating the botulinum market, making it potentially one of the most competitive European aesthetics markets in the coming years. Growth will also be fueled by increased revenues from the aesthetic laser and light therapy segment, particularly in Spain and Germany, which have the largest aesthetic laser markets in Europe.

Outside of aesthetics, regulatory approval of therapeutic applications for botulinum toxin is also expected to drive sales, making them a key part of neuromodulation therapy.
