Web access control solution meets SAML 2.0 requirements, helps provide
    secure access to government applications

    DALLAS, Dec. 6 /CNW/ -- A trusted advisor to the top-five e-governments
worldwide, Entrust, Inc. (Nasdaq: ENTU) provides countries across the globe
the ability to streamline secure, authenticated access to government services
via an easy-to-use Web application. Based on SAML 2.0 capabilities, Entrust
GetAccess provides citizens, enterprises, internal agencies and trusted
government allies with the ability to access a number of tools within a single
authenticated session.
A key component of a layered security model, Entrust GetAccess is
approved by the General Services Administration's official E-Authentication
SAML 2.0 Interoperability testing in Washington, D.C. Entrust GetAccess meets
the necessary requirements and is recognized on the Approved Technology
Providers List for interoperability with government agencies and
"Entrust is always pleased to collaborate with the GSA, as well as
leading vendors, to improve the usability and interoperability of government
e-authentication," said Entrust Chairman, President and Chief Executive
Officer Bill Conner. "As we continue to collaborate and support this effort,
we're delighted that Entrust GetAccess SAML 2.0 interoperability will help
further the growth of government e-authentication programs that increase
efficiency. These efforts help improve the products of vendors and ultimately
help secure the identities and information of our citizens, governments and
The goal of the E-Authentication Initiative is to provide the necessary
federated identity infrastructure to support a common, unified authentication
process and streamline access to government online resources. Based on
industry standards like SAML, e-authentication helps government agencies
accelerate delivery of online services by leveraging a variety of electronic
credential providers.
The E-Authentication Initiative testing process was developed to confirm
security leaders' Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.0 capabilities
during different actions and scenarios within a variety of environments.
Organizations that pass interoperability testing are placed on the Approved
Technology Providers List, which is comprised of security organizations -- and
their appropriate security products -- that are approved by the
E-Authentication Initiative for use by federal agencies in implementing
e-authentication. The current list can be found at:
The Approved Technology Providers List provides agencies consistent
information when weighing options between e-authentication solutions. The
E-Authentication Initiative is driving key standards, including the use of
SAML 2.0, which enable federal agencies to more quickly facilitate secure and
interoperable authentication processes and environments.
The testing, completed on GSA hardware, featured five unique stages,
including authentication, single logout, security, metadata and identity
provider discovery. Each segment of the event had different scenarios or
requirements the various products had to meet.
Entrust GetAccess received high praise during the U.S. government's
E-Authentication Interoperability event in Washington D.C., a test that
showcased vendor capabilities prior to official certification. SAML 2.0 is a
leading industry standard for Identity Federation. The standard is approved
and driven by the Organization for Advancement of Structured Information
Standards (OASIS).
As a result of Entrust GetAccess SAML capabilities, government
departments have been able to leverage the solution to help control access to
sensitive resources and provide an improved online experience to both
government employees and citizens. Today, SAML 2.0 affords government agencies
those same capabilities, but now includes more advanced features.
