Enersource Employees Surpass 1,000,000 Hours Without A Lost Time Injury

MISSISSAUGA, ON, June 5 /CNW/ - Enersource Corporation today announced
the achievement of a key safety milestone after having surpassed 1,000,000
hours worked without a lost time injury. In reaching this important safety
measure for electrical utilities, Enersource continues its tradition of best
practices in work place safety and thanked employees across the organization
for their dedication to a safe work environment.
"In surpassing this milestone, our employees have re-affirmed that
Enersource is completely committed to fostering a positive safety culture
throughout the organization," said Gunars Ceksters, Enersource Corporation
President and Chief Executive Officer. "Today, as we celebrate, we recognize
that this achievement is a stepping stone in the journey toward continued
excellence in work place safety."
"An important component of Enersource safety programs is the recognition
and celebration of all safety milestones with our employees," said Roland
Herman, Enersource Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "We
look forward to an event in early fall, where representatives of the
Electric & Utility Safety Association will present the prestigious
'President's Award' to our Employee Joint Health and Safety Committees."
While recognizing this special Mississauga milestone, Enersource has
noted that significant gains have been made throughout the electricity sector
toward building safer workplaces. In its 2006 Annual Report, the Electrical &
Utilities Safety Association, which lends support to the safety objectives of
hydro utilities and a network of over 1100 members across Ontario, notes a 50
per cent decline in lost time injuries of its member organizations since 2004
and continuing a trend toward its goal of zero injuries by 2011.

Enersource Corporation is a diversified energy and technologies company
focusing on quality of service with the distribution of electricity, the
promotion and delivery of electricity conservation programs and smart metering
solutions to meet government objectives, and increasing involvement in
distributed generation to enhance the provincial electricity supply. The
Corporation is 90% owned by the City of Mississauga, and 10% owned by BPC
Energy Corporation (Borealis), a subsidiary of the Ontario Municipal Employees
