End the 3-month wait for OHIP: Ontario's doctors

TORONTO, Dec. 7, 2011 /CNW/ - Ontario's doctors were pleased to learn that a petition with thousands of signatures was tabled in the Ontario Legislature today by France Gélinas, NDP Member of Provincial Parliament from Nickel Belt, calling on the government to end the three month waiting period for OHIP for landed immigrants.

Earlier this year, Ontario's doctors made a similar request of the government by pointing out that the three month wait for OHIP can be bad for a patient's health and the community.  Ontario's doctors believe there is a significant health benefit to removing the barriers and that immediate OHIP coverage ensures that patients seek the care they need, when they need it.
