CALGARY, Aug. 30 /CNW/ - Emerald Bay Energy Inc. (TSX Venture: EBY) today
reported on recent events.
Emerald Bay Energy announces today that Christopher Croteau has been
appointed to the Company's Board of Directors and as a member of the audit
committee. Chris is currently a partner at the law firm of TingleMerrett LLP,
with a practice focused on securities, corporate finance and commercial
transactions for emerging and growth companies. He has advised private and
public corporations in a wide range of business matters, including access to
capital markets, corporate governance and operational issues. Chris received
his LL.B. and B.Comm. from the University of Alberta and was called to the bar
in Alberta in 2002. He is a member of both the Calgary Bar Association and
Canadian Bar Association.
Mr. Croteau's appointment comes after the unfortunate passing of Mr.
Richard D. Tingle. A member of the Emerald Bay Board of Directors since its
inception, Mr. Tingle had practiced law in Calgary, Alberta, Canada since
1964, received his Queen's Counsel designation in 1981 and was a founding
partner of TingleMerrett LLP (formed in 1993).
Mr. Tingle joined the Emerald Bay board of directors in 1998 and was a
driving force in shaping the Company's current and future vision. "Emerald Bay
lost a fine gentleman and a dedicated director, and Calgary has truly lost one
of its finest citizens. Richard's optimistic attitude and calm demeanor has
been an example to all who have had the privilege to be around him," stated
Emerald Bay President and CEO Shelby Beattie. "While Richard's passing leaves
a great void, I am extremely pleased to welcome Chris to our Board of
Directors. I have had the pleasure of working with Chris for the last few
years during the development of the LDD Tool and our E&P division, and I
believe his involvement will help to greatly increase our ability to grow
through the drill bit as well as strategic acquisitions."
The appointment of Mr. Croteau to the board will be subject to receipt of
all necessary regulatory approvals including the approval of TSX Venture
