Energy leader invests $300,000 to grant wishes for local children
HALIFAX, March 1 /CNW/ - More special wishes than ever imagined will now
be granted to Nova Scotia children over the next three years thanks to a new
partnership between the Nova Scotia Chapter of The Children's Wish Foundation
and Emera Inc.
This commitment to Children's Wish will see Emera Inc. provide $300,000
through its corporate annual giving program and the good work of its employees
through their "fun" and "fund-raising" initiatives.
"Emera is thrilled to be partnered with such a wonderful organization,
one that makes a significant difference in the lives of children with high
risk, life threatening illnesses," says Wayne Crawley, Vice President Strategy
and Corporate Development, Emera Inc. "We have been incredibly impressed with
the work of Children's Wish and the amazing wishes that are granted to
children who are so very appreciative."
The partnership will officially be celebrated this evening at The
Children's Wish Foundation's third annual Wish Winter Away Charity Ball and
Silent Auction taking place at the Halifax World Trade and Convention Centre.
Emera's significant and most generous contribution makes it the single largest
corporate donation that the Nova Scotia Chapter of The Children's Wish
Foundation has ever received.
"With so many great kids anticipating their wishes, having Emera as a
partner ensures that we can continue to provide children with a renewed sense
of energy and hope," adds Darren Nantes, Nova Scotia Advisory Board Chair and
National Board Member, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. "It is
because of the commitment and effort made by corporate leaders like Emera and
their employees, that we are able to fulfill the dreams of many, many
courageous kids who truly deserve having a wish come true."
