Effigi acquires the Colimaçon brand

    LAVAL, QC, Jan. 24 /CNW Telbec/ - Effigi, one of the largest Canadian
branding and fashion companies, announces the acquisition of Colimaçon, a
brand of baby clothing and maternity wear. This transaction is part of
Effigi's development and expansion plan; the company is also planning to
diversify its line of products for babies.
    "The acquisition of Colimaçon fits perfectly with the company's growth
objectives," said Sylvain Véronneau, Effigi's founder. "Over the years, Effigi
has become an important player in the development and production of
collections for babies and children. Plus, our expansion into different
markets has demonstrated the existence of a worldwide demand for Effigi
brands. We would like to take advantage of this solid foundation to propel
Colimaçon onto international markets."
    Colimaçon, originally a division of the Vetibec Group, was created in
1986. Currently sold in specialty boutiques across Canada and the United
States, the brand offers reasonably priced up-market products that have earned
a number of awards, including several Griffe d'Or and Parchemin d'Or prizes.
Colimaçon et Cie, a line of maternity clothes, was added in 2002. The brand
and its well-established customer base will allow Effigi to add maternity wear
to its line of products.
