EDC selects Broccolini/Canderel Joint Venture to Build New Head Office

           Largest Office Construction Project in Downtown Ottawa
                             in the past 25 years

    OTTAWA, May 28 /CNW Telbec/ - Broccolini Construction Inc. and the
Canderel Group of Companies today announced they have been selected to build
the new head office for Export Development Canada (EDC) in downtown Ottawa.
The 18-storey, 520,000 square-foot building will be located at the corner of
Slater and O'Connor streets. The Broccolini/Canderel joint venture was
selected after a rigorous and competitive bidding process commenced by EDC in
January 2008. The estimated project value is $150 million.

in downtown Ottawa in the past 25 years. Designed by the architectural firm
Béique, Legault, Thuot, the new headquarters promises to be a first-class,
prestigious structure that will set a new standard for office towers in the

    The building will seek LEED Gold certification, a third-party, nationally
accepted benchmark for evaluating sustainable sites, water efficiency, energy
and atmosphere efficiency, material and resource selection, and indoor
environmental quality. The EDC building will be Broccolini's fifth undertaking
in LEED and/or sustainable construction. Other projects include the Mountain
Equipment Co-op store in Montréal, the Hagen Industries office in Baie D'Urfé,
the VF Outdoors multi-tenant facility in St-Laurent, and the TELUS office
tower in Ottawa. Canderel has just completed the 1.4 million square foot Bell
Canada headquarters in Montreal which is also Leed certified and won the UDI
Quebec project of the year.

    Broccolini and Canderel, co-owners of the new building, were granted site
plan approval by the City of Ottawa on April 6th 2009. EDC has entered into a
long-term lease agreement with the joint venture which will extend to 2031.
    Groundbreaking was underway as of the 10th of May, with completion
expected by the fall of 2011.
