EastLink being recognized for commitment to raising awareness about the importance of blood donation by Canadian Blood Services

    HALIFAX, Sept. 14 /CNW/ - EastLink is being recognized by Canadian Blood
Services for its commitment to educating Maritimers about the importance of
donating blood and blood products. The award presentation will occur at
Canadian Blood Services eighth annual "Honouring Our Lifeblood" event being
held on September 17th on Parliament Hill.
    Committed to education and sharing stories about Maritimers, EastLink has
partnered with Canadian Blood Services since 2004 televising the annual donor
awards ceremonies ("Honouring Our Lifeblood") in Yarmouth, Halifax, New
Glasgow and Charlottetown as well as public service announcements, and sharing
stories of local donors and staff during interviews on its weekly program,
EastLink Magazine.
    EastLink also extended its support by hosting blood donor clinics in
Halifax for employees and members of the public in December 2005 and 2006 to
help kick off its annual EastLink Blood Donor Days campaign.
    Michael Smith, Director of EastLink Television will accept the award on
