Dynamic new marketing technology used on Canadian DVD release of Sex and The City: The Movie

MONTREAL, Sept. 23 /CNW/ - The first of its kind in Canada, Alliance
Films Inc., Canada's leading motion picture distributor, announces that they
have utilized Sony DADC's eBridge(TM) technology to create a more dynamic
marketing campaign for their latest DVD release - Sex and The City: The Movie.
The eBridge enabled Sex and The City DVDs will go on sale nationwide on
September 23, 2008 and will allow consumers the ability to access a website
filled with exclusive offers and marketing content by placing the DVD into an
internet-ready PC.
Confirmed promotional partners include: SKYY Vodka, SellOffVacations.com
and HarperCollinsCanada. Through this technology these participating partners
have the ability to communicate directly with owners and renters of the DVD
for up to 12 months. Sony DADC's eBridge technology makes the migration from
disc to internet material seamless and works behind the scenes as a uniquely
trackable all-access pass to bonus marketing material that can be
"eBridge allows home entertainment companies to upgrade their DVDs beyond
being merely a means of media storage, but rather making them into a digital
marketing tool," said Geoff Campbell, Sony DADC Vice President of Business
Development. "Alliance Films is the Canadian front-runner in recognizing that
using eBridge technology to bring their consumers online will give them a
unique and ongoing opportunity to provide increased value to their customers."
"DVD consumers are used to static bonus content, like extra footage or
director interviews on their special edition discs. Though Sex and The City:
The Movie has those too, this is something different. With the dynamic power
of a web-based marketing campaign, we can feature revolving offers for special
products and other fun and exciting material related to the film that is only
available if you've purchased the DVD," said Noah Segal, Executive Vice
President, Alliance Films.
For Alliance Films' first wave of offerings in the online Sex and The
City: The Movie marketing campaign, DVD consumers will receive access to the
following promotions:

    - Sample chapters of the Sex and the City: The Movie Hardcover book by
Amy Sohn from HarperCollinsCanada for free download.

    - Downloadable recipe cards featuring cocktails based on the Sex and the
      City characters from SKYY Vodka.

    - A $100 Roots Gift Card with any SellOffVacations.com Holiday booking
made with SellOffVacations.com between October 1st, 2008 and November
      11th, 2008 courtesy of SellOffVacations.com.

Alliance Films is also catering to the needs of the Sex and the City
consumer by offering unique DVD packs that are geared specifically for the Sex
and the City fan through an e-commerce site accessible through the DVD. They
are also offering opportunities to win advance screening passes to upcoming
Alliance Films releases across the country. Future deals will include a
high-end fashion retailer, a jewelry retailer and a major packaged goods
company, all designed to cater to the needs of the hardcore fans of the genre
and the movie.
A dynamic area built into the interface of the DVD when placed into a
web-enabled PC will encourage the film's fans to check back for added
exclusive freebies and offers. Alliance Films expects that loyal fans will
return to see what new offer or experience will be available. Thanks to the
addition of Sony DADC's eBridge technology, Alliance Films has not only added
more opportunity for brand sponsorship, but they have also extended the
experience of enjoying the film and the lifestyle of its characters to its
wide fan base. As an additional feature, eBridge will allow Alliance Films to
see what areas of its marketing campaign receive the most traffic and adjust
their campaign to highlight the most heavily trafficked offers as the Sex and
the City campaign continues.
