Durham Occasional Teachers Ratify Tentative Agreement

    TORONTO, May 1 /CNW/ - Public elementary occasional teachers, members of
the Durham Occasional Teacher Local of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of
Ontario (ETFO), approved a new four-year collective agreement yesterday
    The Local reached their tentative agreement on April 24.
    "Every ratification is an endorsement of our campaign to improve working
conditions for public elementary occasional teachers. Each contract that is
settled also means improved learning conditions for students along with peace
and stability for that community," said ETFO President David Clegg.
    The Durham Occasional Teacher Local represents more than 1,000 public
elementary occasional teachers. Their last contract expired on August 31,

    The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 73,000
elementary public school teachers and education workers across the province
and is the largest teacher federation in Canada.
