MONTREAL, April 16 /CNW Telbec/ - The Conseil du patronat du Québec (CPQ)
honoured J.-Robert Ouimet, president and chief executive officer of Holding
OCB Inc., Cordon Bleu International Inc. & Ouimet-Tomasso Inc., by awarding
him the Prix de carrière 2009, which recognizes the exceptional contributions
of an individual to Quebec society.
"Mr. Ouimet not only increased the size of his family business fivefold,
he also passed it on to a third generation, which very few entrepreneurs
succeed in doing," said CPQ chair John LeBoutillier. "The Prix de carrière
2009 pays tribute to his accomplishments as well as his outstanding
contribution to the CPQ, where he served on the board of directors for over 20
years, from 1987 to 2009."
Given at the CPQ's annual general meeting held this afternoon, the Prix
de carrière award has now been granted in each of the past 27 years. Some of
its recipients include André Chagnon, Jean Coutu, Paul Desmarais Sr., Stephen
Jarislowsky, Bernard Lemaire and Guy St-Pierre.
Three new members of the CPQ Club des entrepreneurs
Three new members were also inducted into the CPQ's prestigious Club des
- Bernard Bélanger, president and CEO of Premier Tech, a company with
diversified strategic activities gathered in three industry sectors:
industrial equipments, horticulture and agriculture, and environmental
- Laurence G. Pathy, president and CEO of Fednav Ltd., the largest
international transporter of dry bulk in Canada. With its subsidiaries
and associated companies, Fednav is active in ship ownership and the
marine transportation of bulk and general cargoes worldwide.
- Jonathan Wener, president and principal shareholder of Canderel, a
North American leader in real estate development, project management
and the construction and management of assets. Several major
engineering and design projects in various cities in North America have
made it the largest real estate investment, development and management
company in Canada.
Created in 1986, the CPQ Club des entrepreneurs publicly recognizes the
outstanding contribution of business people to the economic development of
Quebec. To date, 66 business leaders have received this honour from the CPQ.
The Conseil du patronat du Québec brings together many of the province's
largest companies, as well as the vast majority of sector-based employers'
associations, making it the sole employers' confederation in Quebec.
