Discovery Bay Games partners with Kroeger Inc. to launch extensive line of wood and metal brain teaser puzzles

Company's success allows them to expand product line well beyond board

SEATTLE, Jan. 22 /CNW/ - Discovery Bay Games has partnered with Kroeger
Inc. to launch Noodle Your IQ(TM) - an all new line of wood and metal brain
teaser puzzles, featuring 56 different types and 6 difficulty levels. Noodle
Your IQ will be showcased at the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair taking place in
Toronto, January 24-26, 2009.
Despite tough economic conditions, Discovery Bay Games had a very
successful 2008. The company closed a $2.5 million round of financing (about
50% of which came from Canadian investors) and revenues grew more than 200%.
This ongoing success has allowed them to continue an aggressive product launch
strategy and ultimately, expand their product line well beyond board games.
Sell through for Noodle Your IQ was strong in the U.S. during the 2008
holiday season. "We launched the metal brain teaser puzzles in December 2008
in the specialty channel in the U.S.," said Craig Olson, CEO of Discovery Bay
Games. "The sell through has exceeded our expectations and we believe this
will translate into strong sales in Canada as well."

In addition to Noodle Your IQ, Discovery Bay Games will showcase the
following game concepts at the Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair:

    - Crush!(TM) - The Dice Game - In Crush, players take turns rolling
special "vino" dice to try and score points. Each round a player must
weigh the risk between banking their points or rolling again for even
more points. If you roll and do not increase your score, you've been
"Crushed!" The first player to bank 5,000 points wins. (2+ players,
        ages 18+)
    - Hink Pink(TM) - In this hilarious new party game based on the
classroom classic, the rhymes fall into 3 categories - Hink Pinks are
1 syllable, Hinky Pinkies are 2 syllables, and Hinkity Pinkities are
3 syllables. Players give each other riddle clues and teammates try
to guess as many as possible before the timer runs out. For instance,
if you say "I have a Hink Pink for an obese feline" and your teammate
answers with the 1-syllable rhyme "Fat Cat," your team scores 1
point. The first team to earn 50 points wins. (2+ players, ages 8+)
    - Locale(TM) - Based on the success of The Origin of Expressions(TM),
launched in 2007, Discovery Bay Games presents Locale, a game of
world geography and cunning deception. In Locale, the object of the
game is to make up a story by explaining as much as you can about a
given location. (Do you know where Bird-in-Hand is? How about
Timbuktu?) Players vote on whose story is the most believable.
Players score points by writing a story that's good enough to fool
others or correctly guessing the true locale. Bluff your way around
        the globe! (3+, ages 8+)
    - LOL(TM) - The TXT MSG Game - In LOL, players draw letter tiles and
then have three minutes to create text message phrases in a
crossword-style grid. Players don't need a PHD in SMS (Sort Message
Service) to be 2G2BT (to good to be true) in LOL. (2+ players, ages
    - Smart Darts(TM) - In Smart Darts, a dart-based trivia game,
players/teams compete to score points by throwing their magnetic
darts at the target and then answering trivia questions based on the
category they land on. Categories include Sports, Geography, Arts &
Entertainment, History, and Etc. The first player/team to score 300
points wins. (2+ players, ages 8+)
    - Twisted Tales Game Collection - This hilarious, hair raising game
collection includes two party games - Twisted Tales Storytelling Game
and Vampires Rise. In Twisted Tales, players compete to create the
freakiest, creepiest, funniest tale they can by playing storytelling
cards. The objective is to get rid of all your storytelling cards
without breaking the flow of the story. In Vampires Rise, a mystery
role-playing game, players are dealt cards that identify them as
either a vampire or a villager. Bluffing and role playing create fun
and tension in this game, perfect for any sleep over or camp out. The
Twisted Tales Game Collection comes with a flashlight featuring
creepy sounds and spooky silhouettes. (2+ players, ages 8+)
    - Two Bridges(TM) - Created in the style and spirit of the most popular
English pub games, Two Bridges is an original game of fast action,
fortune and chance. In this original pub-style game, players compete
to build their bridge by rolling dice combinations. Players must
balance their desire to build their bridge with their desire to
impede their opponent's progress. The first player to collect four
gold coins by rolling them across their bridge wins. (2 players, ages
    - Two Bridges: Dragon's Gold(TM) - Dragon's Gold is the kids' version
of Two Bridges. Players compete to see who can steal the most gold
from the evil dragon, Olccrag. To collect gold, players must build a
bridge to the dragon's lair by rolling dice combinations that
correspond to their bridge blocks. The first player to steal four
coins from the dragon wins. (2 players, ages 7+)
