TORONTO, Jan. 14 /CNW/ - Diversified Global Asset Management ("DGAM") is
pleased to announce that Mr. Todd Groome will join DGAM as a Managing
Director, effective February 1, 2009. Mr. Groome will be responsible for
business development, and will also advise the investment team on macro
investment themes and the global economic and policy environment.
Mr. Groome has a wealth of experience developed over an extensive career
in capital markets in both the public and private sectors. Most recently, Mr.
Groome was Advisor, Monetary and Capital Markets Department, of the
International Monetary Fund. At the IMF, Mr. Groome was responsible for
multilateral surveillance activities and review of capital markets
developments, focusing on structural issues, including preparation of the
Fund's Global Financial Stability Report.
Previously, Mr. Groome served as Managing Director and Head of the
Financial Institutions Groups of Deutsche Bank and Credit Suisse in London,
focusing primarily on debt capital markets and capital and balance sheet
management for banks and insurers. While at Deutsche Bank, he also managed the
European High Yield origination business for a period of time. Prior to that,
he worked with Merrill Lynch in London and New York as part of the Financial
Institutions Corporate Finance Group working in M&A, advisory, and debt and
equity financing for banks and insurance companies. Before moving to London in
1989, Mr. Groome worked as an attorney with Hogan & Hartson in Washington,
D.C., as part of the Financial Institutions Group focusing primarily on
regulatory issues, and merger and capital raising activities for U.S. banks
and savings institutions. Prior to joining the IMF, Mr. Groome was a
consultant to Hovde Capital Advisors, a hedge fund and merchant banking
operation in Washington, focusing on financial institutions.
Mr. Groome holds an MBA from the London Business School, a JD from the
University of Virginia School of Law, and a BA in Economics from
In December, 2008, Mr. Groome was named non-Executive Chairman of the
Alternative Investment Management Association ("AIMA"), with effect from
January 1, 2009. Mr. Groome has also been invited to be a Visiting Scholar at
the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
