MONTREAL and QUEBEC CITY, Aug. 17 /CNW Telbec/ - The partners of the law
firm Desjardins Ducharme L.L.P. today announced the agreements they have
concluded to continue their practice offering the same high quality services
to their clients in both Montreal and Quebec City.
In Quebec City, partners, salaried lawyers, articling students, students,
paralegals, as well as assistants and support personnel, will continue their
operations within a new independent firm to bear the name, Stein Monast L.L.P.
The new firm will continue to occupy the offices located at 70 Dalhousie St.
In Montreal, approximately 80 people, consisting of 35 partners and
lawyers practising in the areas of business law (including commercial law,
transactional law and securities, real estate law, employment and public law,
as well as commercial and banking litigation and insolvency), translators,
articling students, students, paralegals as well as some assistants and
members of the support staff, will join the firm, Lavery, de Billy L.L.P.
under an agreement in principle, subject to certain conditions. A number of
the firm's personnel will continue to work out of the current offices of
Desjardins Ducharme at 600 de la Gauchetière Street West.
Seven partners and lawyers in Desjardins Ducharme's Montreal offices
practising in the area of litigation, insurance and professional liability
will continue to practice in their specialty with the firm of Donati
Maisonneuve L.L.P. They will be accompanied by their regular assistants.
The reorganization is expected to take effect at the end of September
2007 and will enable the lawyers of Desjardins, Ducharme L.L.P. to continue
working in partnership with their clients, offering made-to-measure solutions
for businesses and organizations operating in Quebec in both the emerging and
