    Award-winning personality Dini Petty keynote speaker

    WATERLOO, ON, April 11 /CNW/ - EmPowering Women 'The Experience', a
unique event for professional women, entrepreneurs, and community leaders will
be launched on September 20, 2007 at the Waterloo Inn and hosted by Lynn
Haddrall, Editor in Chief, The Record and radio personalities Lisa Drew, 570
News and Tara Connors, CHYM FM. The ambitious one-day event will feature a
Keynote Address by award-winning television personality Dini Petty and
workshops by six of Canada's leading experts, popular speakers, and business
owners: Judy Suke, Harp Arora, Susan Sommers, Renate Weiler, Maureen
Bogoroch-Ditkofsy, and J. Merelle Rodrigo. The Marie Seiler Linden Award will
be presented to one outstanding woman who inspires others.
    EmPowering Women 'The Experience', the region's signature professional
development event for women, is expected to attract 500 women involved in the
local, national, and international business community. The event is presented
by the Waterloo Region Small Business Centre and was inspired by Debora
Ritchie, event committee co-chair and Miller Thomson LLP Business Development
Manager for Southwestern Ontario Region, and Kathy Weiss, event committee
co-chair and the Small Business Centre. Door prizes include a women's TAGHeuer
watch from Raffi Jewellers in Conestoga Mall.
    According to Ms. Weiss, "The event is designed to inspire, inform, and
spark innovative thinking and ideas. At the event, women will be encouraged to
share strategies, information, education, and networking contacts and

    The Waterloo Region Small Business Centre is a publicly and privately
funded, not-for-profit organization that focuses on providing support to
start-up and small business enterprises during their initial years of
development and operation. The Centre offers easy access to business
consulting services and information, including management, marketing,
technology, and financing. The Centre provides services to clients at three
locations in Kitchener, Cambridge and Waterloo.
