VANCOUVER, Feb. 11 /CNW/ - Ian Christman, a lawyer, has been appointed
Deputy Registrar of the Motor Vehicle Sales Authority of British Columbia
(VSA), effective February 1, 2008.
In addition to assisting the President and Registrar in the performance
of his duties, and sharing the load in hearings on disciplinary and
investigative matters, he will be the department head responsible for all
licensing, regulatory and compliance issues.
The independent VSA is delegated by government to administer the Motor
Dealer Act and related regulations, as well as other statutes concerning the
retail sale of motor vehicles, with a mandate to serve both consumers and
industry. Motor vehicle dealers and all sales people must be licensed and
standards of practice are clearly defined.
As an associate in the law firm of Macaulay McColl, Mr. Christman has
advised the Authority since it was founded in 2004. He has a background in the
automotive industry and extensive experience in civil litigation and
