Dell Cures PointClickCare's "Long-Term" Technology Requirements

Dell Technology Powers Company's Operations From Desktop to Datacentre

TORONTO, Aug. 21 /CNW/ - Dell today announced that PointClickCare(R) has
once again selected Dell as its enterprise technology partner, upgrading its
existing datacentre with additional POWEREDGE(TM) server technology. Honoured
with Deloitte's prestigious Technology Fast 500 award in 2006, PointClickCare
will continue to streamline its operational capabilities through scalable IT
solutions from Dell.
Well established in both the Canadian and American healthcare industries,
PointClickCare is a market leader in on-demand software for long-term care
providers. Its fully integrated web-based technology enables healthcare
facilities and administrators to meet the complex challenges of managing
Clinical EMR (Electronic Medical Records) along with billing and financial
information in real time. With its rapidly growing customer base of over 2,500
Long Term Care centers across North America, PointClickCare turned to Dell for
the additional computing power it needed to manage its expanding client
roster.
After reviewing the offerings of several competitive vendors,
PointClickCare opted to continue its nine-year relationship with Dell, adding
PowerEdge 6850 and 6950 servers to its existing architecture. With high
powered quad-socket dual-core processors, the company's technology refresh
will deliver next-generation performance while balancing its internal
expandability and rack density. Additionally, this upgrade will seamlessly
support PointClickCare's existing install base of three POWERVAULT(TM) storage
units, eight POWERCONNECT(TM) network switches, 27 PowerEdge servers and close
to 100 desktops and LATITUDE(TM) workstations.
"PointClickCare is dedicated to providing healthcare facilities with
scalable technology that simplifies their day-to-day processes, thereby
enabling them to focus their resources and time on what really matters --
patient care," said David Wessinger, Executive Vice President and Chief
Technology Officer, Wescom Inc. "Dell's hands-on customer service and its
commitment to really understanding our business and our growth strategy made
them the clear choice when we needed to upgrade our network infrastructure."
"Our customers value technology partners that make business processes
easier, more cost-effective and enable better customer service," said Debora
Jensen, vice president of the Advanced Solutions Group, Dell Canada. "Nowhere
is this more apparent than with organizations operating in the healthcare
sector, which face unique challenges involving mission critical decisions and
diagnoses. Dell is committed to working with organizations like Wescom's
PointClickCare by delivering scalable technology solutions that enable the
best possible clinical outcomes."
