OTTAWA, April 20 /CNW/ - In response to testimony delivered to the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage, CTVglobemedia welcomed statements today from Rogers Communications executives on the acceptability of a fee-for-carriage regime in Canada based on the American retransmission consent model. "We were pleased to learn that Rogers accepts a fee-for-carriage regime. This is a significant and positive step towards solving the crisis in conventional television in Canada," confirmed Paul Sparkes, Executive Vice President, Corporate Affairs, CTVglobemedia. "Fee-for-carriage is an industry-to-industry solution and we look forward to working with Rogers on the development and implementation of an appropriate retransmission consent regime that works for Canadians."
