Crescent Street is celebrating 50 years of bringing life to nightlife
MONTREAL, June 15 /CNW Telbec/ - This summer Crescent Street is
celebrating their golden anniversary with big name bands and an unbelievable
array of attractions and activities. The public is invited to an incredible
line-up of free concerts by Michel Pagliaro, Honeymoon Suite and Glass Tiger,
to name a few of the exciting happenings at the Crescent Street 50th
Anniversary, presented by Bud Light Lime. The street best known for its
restaurants, bars and luxury cars will be closed off for pedestrian traffic
between Ste. Catherine and de Maisonneuve on Friday, June 19th from 5:00 p.m.
until Saturday, June 20th.

of the Crescent Street Merchants Association, "Crescent is well known for its
unparalleled events, and this time we have something very special to
Bud Light Lime made its Canadian debut on May 25th, 2009. They are
pleased to be associated with this prestigious Crescent Street event as
presenting sponsor, and are delighted to continue the inaugural launch of
their newest product, Bud Light Lime, at the 50th anniversary celebration.
On Friday, June 19th the party is kicked off at 5 p.m. when Crescent
Street will be lined with MINI vehicles. The multitude of MINIs will be
displayed on the street allowing festival-goers to get an up-close look at
these distinctive vehicles. Coincidentally, 2009 marks MINI's 50th birthday.

The activities get underway at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 20th, while
the event's opening ceremonies and special cake presentation will take place
at 12:30 p.m. Go Fast Energy Drink, an event sponsor, is proud to present an
unbelievable performance by the Go Fast Jet Pack immediately following the
ceremonies. Internationally renowned, pilot Eric Scott will lift off of
Stogies' rooftop and show off his outstanding skill while hovering hundreds of
feet over the event and make a spectacular landing on Crescent Street. The Go
Fast Jet Pack will perform once again at 4:45 p.m. for an encore presentation.
Vice-president of the Crescent Street Merchants Association, Steve
Siozios, has been quoted as saying, "our 50th anniversary is a momentous
occasion and we look forward to 50 more years of even bigger and better events
In honour of the past 50 years of Crescent Street, time will be turned
back and festival visitors will relive the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and the
2000's, all day long. The street will be divided up into five interactive
sections representing the celebrated decades. Each section will consist of an
informational panel taking onlookers back in time to observe pictures of what
Crescent Street looked like back in the day.
Within each section there will also be a stage representing that
particular decade. Festival goers will be treated to spectacular live dance
performances every hour on the decade stages, as DJ Karl B. mashes up modern
beats with golden oldies. With period appropriate costumes and choreographies,
professional dancers will light up the stages with their moves. The
entertainment will begin on the 1960's stage where flower power will come to
life, immediately following the dancers will perform on the 1970's stage their
rendition of disco fever, break dancing and new wave electronic will then be
revived on the 1980's platform, euro-dance music on the 1990's stage, and
finally house and electro beats in the 2000's section.
An unbelievable line-up of concerts, free of charge, commencing at 5 p.m.
on the Bud Light Lime stage will come to life with an unforgettable
performance by Michel Pagliaro. Pagliaro is best known for hitting the top of
both Anglophone and Francophone pop charts in Canada. At 7 p.m. platinum
selling recording artist, Honeymoon Suite, will take the stage. Best known for
their smash hits, "New Girl Now" and "Burning in Love", their performance is
sure to electrify the crowd. At 9 p.m. multi-platinum, multi-Juno award
winning and Grammy nominated musical group, Glass Tiger will perform. With
hits like "Don't Forget Me (When I'm Gone)" and "Someday", Glass Tiger will
ignite Crescent Street and end the evening on an energetic, high note with a
Brian Fogt, president of BBF Promotions and Events, stated, "We feel
privileged to work on this project and hope to deliver another successful
Crescent Street event."
