Cost-conscious Canadians Ditching Brown Bag for Subs

Quiznos launches first-ever 13 inch sub to give consumers more sub for
    their dollar

TORONTO, April 7 /CNW/ - Despite their best lunchtime intentions, many
Canadians are opting to ditch their brown bag meal and buy a sub instead. A
recent survey conducted by Angus Reid Strategies on behalf of Quiznos Canada
shows that 79 per cent of Canadians always, often or sometimes pack their
lunch; however, 62 per cent admitted to purchasing something else to eat even
when someone else made the lunch for them. The survey results also show that
74 per cent of Canadians will reach for a sub sandwich as their go-to
lunchtime choice.
"It can be boring to eat the same packed lunch every day," said Greg
MacDonald, President of Quiznos Canada. "People like to have options for lunch
and sometimes leftovers or a soggy peanut butter and jam sandwich just don't
cut it - especially if you can eat a premium sub that's easy on the wallet."
Quiznos recently launched their newest value-sub offering - Toasty
Torpedoes - to the Canadian marketplace. "One of the reasons we launched
Torpedoes was to give our customers more sub for their dollar," says
The first-ever 13 inch sub, Torpedoes come in four different flavours -
Italian, Beef, Bacon & Cheddar, Turkey Bacon Club and the Big Kahuna Tuna.
Costing only $4.99 Torpedoes come on a ciabatta loaf that is "crispy on the
outside and soft on the inside."
"The 13 inch sub is a Canadian first that we're really proud of" says
MacDonald. "Our Torpedo sandwiches are similarly priced, or maybe even less
than, a brown bag lunch so it offers Canadians variety that can satisfy their
lunchtime cravings without skimping on quality food."
With the addition of the Torpedoes to their value-menu, Quiznos now
offers a toasted sandwich to suit any taste. Visit a Quiznos to try one of the
four new Torpedo flavours or order a sub right to your door - Quiznos now
delivers in Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, London, Guelph, Montreal and Halifax.
