Corporate social responsibility session offers strategies important for business growth.

LONDON, ON, Oct. 16 /CNW/ - For a company to compete long-term, and
especially during global economic turbulence, a corporate social
responsibility (CSR) strategy is more important than ever. Tavares Group
Consulting Inc. is presenting a training session on November 5 focusing on
managing social responsibility issues. Topics covered will address social
responsibility principles, issues and implementation while showcasing local
company initiatives.
A recent Deloitte presentation indicated that operating without a CSR
strategy could be perceived as a risk by stakeholders. "Companies must assess
their perceived risks, including CSR, as these factors can adversely affect
the achievement of a company's objectives," said Joe Solly, Deloitte's Senior
Manager, Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability (Enterprise Risk).
"What companies and organizations aiming at long-term profitability and
credibility need to know is that social responsibility is essential to their
sustainability," said Sandra Tavares, Principal, Tavares Group Consulting Inc.
"Sustainability is a core value for Suncor Energy, and I look forward to
discussing how social needs and expectations are considered along with
environmental and economic interests as we carry out our business," said Jason
Vaillant, Manager, Communications and Stakeholder Relations, Suncor. "Suncor
takes a strategic approach to listening and responding to our stakeholders and
I will share how we structure, execute and evaluate our action plans on
corporate social responsibility."
Presenters in the day long session include: Marvin De Vries, Trojan
Technologies, Tom Ewart, Research Network for Business Sustainability at The
University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business, Jason
Vaillant, Suncor Energy Products Inc. and Sandra Tavares, Tavares Group
