QUEBEC CITY, Nov. 29, 2011 /CNW Telbec/ - Conway Resources Inc.
("Conway" or the "Corporation") (TSXV: CWY) is pleased to report the
preliminary results for the three-tonne bulk sample taken from the
Conway vein on the Conway Paquin property located near Belleterre,
The sample was sent to the Corporation's strategic partner in August,
where it was ground into a representative 20-kg sample at an initial
grade of 3.36 g/t Au. Knelson and flotation concentration testing was
then performed on this subsample. The preliminary results for flotation
concentration were significantly better:
92% gold recovery for 4.5% of the global sample;
A marked increase in grade from 3.36 g/t to 68.5 g/t Au in concentrate
Even though the preliminary results are already excellent, optimization
work will soon be carried out to: 1) increase the grade of the
concentrate through a concentrate washing stage; and 2) increasing gold
recovery by adding a scavenger stage.
Furthermore, our strategic partner's chlorine technology yielded 95%
gold recovery when used on a gross tonne of Conway's ore.
Francois Kalos, President and Chief Executive Officer of Conway, said
that: "We remain fully committed to becoming a green gold producer. The
larger-scale results for the three-tonne bulk sample from the Conway
vein are continuing to show the economic potential of this type of
project. The next step is to process samples from the Belleterre Mine
in early 2012. If the results are positive, we will make every effort
to ensure that a plant using this new environmentally-friendly
technology is built at the Belleterre Mine."
The key advantages of the chlorination process are:
Less costly and more efficient that cyanidation, as reaction time is one
or two hours for chlorine compared to one or two days for cyanide;
Closed circuit process, meaning that over 99% of main reagents are
regenerated on an ongoing basis;
Does not require a tailings pond, as the tailings are solid and
completely inert, which also allows for substantial savings;
Potential for transformation of tailings into commercial products for
the construction industry.
About Conway Resources Inc.
Conway is a mining exploration corporation that owns four gold
properties and one rare metals property in Quebec. Its main asset is
the Belleterre Mine property. The property is the site of the old
Belleterre mine, which produced over 800,000 ounces of gold between
1936 and 1959. A total of 2.18 million tonnes of ore at an average
grade of 10.73 g/t Au were extracted from the mine, primarily from vein
12 (95% of production). Earlier reports indicate the presence of at
least 21 veins on the property.
