LONDON, ON, Aug. 27 /CNW/ - The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and
the 14 Local Health Integration Networks (LHINs) across the province now have
instant access to detailed information from the data bases at ConnexOntario,
including service maps and program availability information, thanks to the
launching of the new "eServices" web based application. eServices will allow
its users to access a wide array of on-line reports and to monitor in
"real-time", program availability in critical sectors of the addictions and
mental health service network in Ontario.
eServices has been developed with funding from the Ministry of Health and
Long-Term Care by ConnexOntario. It will be a powerful planning tool for the
Ministry, the LHINs, and key stakeholders in the mental health and addictions
fields. The application will improve timely access to services and will assist
with the continued development of partnerships between sectors such as the
criminal justice system and the mental health treatment and support system.
David Kelly, Executive Director of the Ontario Federation of Community
Mental Health and Addictions Programs says, "The work of ConnexOntario has
been crucial in building and supporting the effectiveness and accessibility of
mental health and addiction services across the province."
The Honourable George Smitherman, Minister of Health and Long-Term Care,
approved additional funding for further development of services at
ConnexOntario in 2005.
ConnexOntario operates the province's three 24/7/365 toll free helplines
which provide information and referral services for Ontario's addictions,
mental health, and problem gambling sector. ConnexOntario also provides
Ontarians with three on-line directories of services. The web based
directories can be accessed at www.connexontario.ca.
The toll free helpline numbers are:
