CALGARY, June 30 /CNW/ - The Doorway in Calgary's SE community of Ogden
finds themselves the lucky recipients of new technology that will aid them in
their work. Calgary based ERA (Electronic Recycling Association) has donated a
refurbished laptop to The Doorway, as well as many other charities and non
profit organizations, and disadvantaged people with the help of various MLA's.
Bojan Paduh of the ERA has collected these laptops which have been deemed
unusable or ready to be recycled, and has had each laptop refurbished for the
purpose of donating them back to the community. Had it not been for the ERA's
reuse program, these laptops would have been shredded or melted down, rather
than used in the community.
Member of the Legislative Assembly for Calgary - Fort, Wayne Cao, has
long been a supporter of the ERA. Mr. Cao worked in collaboration with the ERA
in choosing the recipient of the laptop. Not only does the ERA support
environmental sustainability, they have chosen to support community
sustainability as well.
Mr. Cao, and Mr. Paduh will be presenting the laptop to The Doorway, June
30th, 2009, at 13:00PM.
The Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta is a non profit
organization dedicated to reducing electronic waste through the reuse and
recycling of unwanted computers and related electronic equipment.
Wayne Cao was elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly for
Calgary-Fort. Mr. Cao is supporter of the local communities in his riding,
city and province wide.
