CALGARY, Oct. 23 /CNW/ - ABCRC has just launched their newest program,
the Community Champions Challenge to Albertans. This enables charitable and
non-profit groups in Alberta the opportunity to win extra money for their
efforts collecting beverage containers in their communities.
The program is part of Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation's
Community Champions Program which focuses on convenient recycling for
Albertans. The Community Champions Challenge is one part which focuses
specifically on charitable organizations and non-profit community groups.
Other areas focus on Schools, the ICI sector and municipal partnerships.
Guy West, President of Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation,
said "We are very proud of our growing Community Champions Program, and are
happy to see the launch of this challenge which helps charities and non-
profit groups in Alberta. This program offers an alternate fundraising
opportunity while giving Albertans a convenient way to recycle their
containers, and help their favourite charity or group at the same time," said
The program is web-based so each group can enter their counts on-line and
compare how they are doing to other registered groups. The group with the
highest number of containers returned per month will win an extra $500. The
total number can be comprised from one large bottle drive or several small
ones. Results will be tracked on-line enabling participants to compare with
other groups across the province. The challenge will run for 12 months giving
12 opportunities to win extra money.
This program is run with the help of local bottle depots and there is
