MONTREAL, June 5 /CNW Telbec/ - La Ronde is pleased to announce today the line-up for the 2007 L'International des Feux Loto-Québec presented by TELUS, which will take place between June 20 and July 28. Fireworks enthusiasts will thrill to stunning sights and sounds right from the event's opening moments as Spain kicks things off on Wednesday, June 20 at 10 p.m. with a performance entitled Pure jazz, produced by the firm Pirotecnia Igual. This year, the general public is invited to participate in the PEOPLE'S CHOICE TELUS contest by voting on one of the two following websites: www.telusmobilite.com/feux or www.telumobilities.com/fireworks. Participants can also vote using their mobile phone. A draw will be held between the eighth and ninth fireworks presentations, with the person whose entry is chosen at random winning, courtesy of Swiss and TELUS, airfare for two to his/her choice of either Geneva or Zurich, along with a daily personal-expenses allowance and hotel accommodations. During the five-week competition, the greatest pyrotechnic masters from Spain, England, Mexico, Hong Kong (China), the U.S., Canada, France and Germany will demonstrate their amazing know-how and their limitless passion for their art to the tens of thousands of appreciative spectators who gather to admire their creations in the Montreal sky. This series of performances will be capped off on July 28 by a unique fireworks display prepared by the Italian firm Panzera S.A.S. to mark La Ronde's 40th anniversary in very special fashion. "To salute La Ronde's 40th anniversary, Panzera in collaboration with La Ronde has developed a musical soundtrack filled with hits from the '60s that are certain to bring back many wonderful memories," said event director Martyne Gagnon. "And the best way to appreciate the combined elements of the performance is to be seated directly facing Lac des Dauphins." Lac des Dauphins at La Ronde remains the ideal location from which to fully appreciate a fireworks performance because, increasingly, productions feature low-level pyrotechnics. From their position in specially designed seats in the on-site grandstands, visitors will enjoy a sound-and-light experience that includes an unobstructed view of the sky and the reflection on the water of the pyrotechnics and colours, as well as unlimited access to La Ronde and its more than 40 rides and attractions. "Watching the various fireworks displays from the site is simply fantastic," enthused La Ronde president Marc Tremblay. "What's more, we are innovating this year with a special offer whereby people 50 or over can enter the site starting at 7 p.m. and take in the evening's fireworks show from a reserved seat for $25. In many cases, it costs just $2 more than an admission-and-rides pass to watch the fireworks comfortably from a reserved seat. The 2007 line-up is extremely exciting and will provide fireworks fans with yet another exceptional experience," he added. "In being associated with this pyromusical art form for a third year, Loto-Québec is offering the general public truly high-quality entertainment," declared Pierre Bibeau, Loto-Québec's senior corporate vice-president, communications and public affairs. "This tremendously popular event that brings so many people together is a perfect fit in the Rendez-vous Loto-Québec sponsorship program. It delights people of all ages who enjoy - at no charge in many cases - performances that are as surprising as they are spectacular. This is why we greatly value our association with the event." La Ronde sincerely thanks its valued sponsors: principal sponsor Loto-Québec, presenting sponsor TELUS, associate sponsors Le ministère du tourisme du Québec and the SAQ, official broadcaster 105,7 Rythme FM, and event partners TQS and Le Journal de Montréal, Swiss, Le Marriott Château Champlain, Belle Gueule and Agropur for their support in the organizing and publicizing of the event.
