Colonel By Drive to be Reduced to Two Lanes at Daly Avenue

OTTAWA, Oct. 15 /CNW Telbec/ - Traffic flow south of the intersection of
Colonel By Drive and Daly Avenue will change tomorrow as a result of roadwork
preparation associated with the redevelopment of the Ottawa Congress Centre.
Instead of four lanes, two heading north and two heading south, the
intersection will be reduced to one lane heading north, and a second heading
Colonel By Drive currently expands from two to four lanes at the
Mackenzie King Bridge and continues to Daly Avenue. Effective tomorrow, the
two lanes of traffic, each heading north and south, will still allow for both
right and left turns at Daly Avenue.
The two lanes on Colonel By, from Mackenzie King Bridge to Daly Avenue,
will be closed to allow for resurfacing of the two lanes next to the Canal,
and provide for an extension west for its final re-location. This work is
expected to last until December 1, 2008, at which point, the two lanes of
traffic adjacent to the OCC will be closed in order to allow for construction
of the new convention facility which extends onto this roadway area.
Traffic on Colonel By Drive will then revert back to the two lanes
adjacent to the Rideau Canal as a permanent traffic feature of the downtown
