Coalition for Student Loan Fairness pleased with renewed calls for student loan reform

VANCOUVER, April 30 /CNW/ - The National non-partisan Coalition for
Student Loan Fairness is applauding MP Denise Savoie (Victoria) and Liberal
Bob Rae (Toronto) for raising awareness about our broken Canadian Student Loan
Program. The Coalition's online petition, calling for eight common-sense
reforms to the student loan program, was recently signed by Bob Rae, while
Savoie urged the Conservative government in Friday's Question Period to cut
the interest rate on student loans, among the highest in the G8. Coalition
spokesperson Julian Benedict says, "It is time for the Conservative government
to act on reform by implementing the Coalition's eight point plan" to help
student loan borrowers struggling with our antiquated and unresponsive student
loan system.
