TORONTO, Jan. 31 /CNW/ - Focusing on improving the interaction between
the public and streetscapes with Toronto's natural and structural environment,
Clear Channel Outdoor Canada with its partners, Zeidler Partnership
Architects, Creative Outdoor Advertising and Rogers Communications, announced
today they have submitted an exciting new approach to the City's Coordinated
Street Furniture Program RFP.
"Our focus is to provide functional and attractive street furniture that
compliments the physical elements of public spaces in Toronto without the
clutter," said Paul Seaman, Project Manager for Clear Channel Outdoor Canada.
"Toronto is a beautiful city full of parks, ravines, and trees. Our goal is to
produce street furniture that compliments and assimilates with these diverse
natural elements that live among the artificial streetscapes."
The bid proposes to supply and maintain more than 25,000 pieces of street
furniture including transit shelters, benches, recycling bins, newspaper boxes
and others for Toronto over a 20-year period.
"The city has demanded that all bidders be able to meet stringent revenue
and design standards in order to make this project a success for the people of
Toronto," said Seaman. "We are confident our bid is competitive, and we are
proceeding with the view that we only undertake projects that we can deliver
on-time and on-budget."
Clear Channel Outdoor Canada has partnered with Zeidler Partnership
Architects, Creative Outdoor, and Rogers Communications, to design and produce
the street furniture elements. Each partner will bring its own unique
experiences, and creative talents to the project.
"Clear Channel Outdoor Canada is excited to partner with both world
renowned and Toronto based designers Zeidler Partnership Architects and
Creative Outdoor Advertising, plus Rogers Communications," said Seaman. "We
look forward to commenting further once city officials and the Selection
Committee have had a chance to review our submission."
