City of New Westminster, Police Service Select MTS Allstream for VoIP Telephony Solution

WINNIPEG, Feb. 9 /CNW/ - MTS Allstream Inc. ("MTS Allstream") is pleased
that the City of New Westminster and the New Westminster Police Service have
awarded contracts to MTS Allstream to provide upgrades for voice and data
infrastructure to implement voice over Internet protocol ("VoIP") telephony.
"MTS Allstream is proud to deliver new technology and unified
communications services to these important customers in New Westminster," said
Dean Prevost, President Enterprise Solutions, MTS Allstream. "Our VoIP
telephony solution securely runs voice and data over a single network
infrastructure, and is designed to help organizations of all sizes and in all
sectors improve the way they do business."
"This new technology will mean significant cost savings in access line
costs as well as remote location extension costs over the next few years,"
said Alvin Chok, Manager Information Technology, City of New Westminster. "It
will also provide the ability to integrate all remote sites at City Hall,
reducing local access charges and multiple site telephony upgrades - meaning
that our remote sites will have the same phone features as City Hall through
the VoIP technology."
"With MTS Allstream's IP telephony solutions, we can reduce
communications, network management and operational costs by streamlining our
network operations," said Constable Michael Blackstock, Telecommunications and
Support Services, New Westminster Police Service. "By implementing VoIP
