City of Burlington Facilities Reopen After Winter Storm

    BURLINGTON, ON, Dec. 17 /CNW/ - All City facilities, including City Hall,
arenas, community centres and pools have reopened as of the morning of Monday,
Dec. 16 following yesterday's winter storm that forced the cancellation of
programming and the closure of City facilities normally open on Sunday.
    Regularly scheduled meetings and recreations programs will be held as
usual starting this morning at normal opening times. Handi Van service has
resumed today and Burlington Transit continues regular operations.
    City plows worked through the day Sunday to clear primary roads and
secondary roads and cleared local roads into the morning of Dec. 17 following
snowfall reported to be more than 30 centimetres, including ice pellets. Local
sidewalks and city facility parking lots were expected to be cleared this
    Snow clearing operations are undertaken on a priority basis based on road
classifications primary then secondary and finally local roads. Residents can
greatly assist snow clearing operations by not parking vehicles on the road or
blocking sidewalks.
